Connecting the Potential of Japan and the Philippines
The Philippines is a country where English is used exclusively in education.
Drawn by this unique characteristic, I relocated to Cebu with my family in 2014.
Cebu is widely known as a hub for English learners, attracting many young Japanese students for language training.
Originally a popular resort destination, it has developed a strong English-speaking environment due to the influx of international tourists.
As a result, many locals in Cebu possess particularly high English proficiency compared to other regions in the country.
In this setting, natural interactions between Filipinos and Japanese are common. Even those who have never attended a Japanese language school often learn Japanese from friends and become familiar with Japanese culture and values.
Many are capable of basic communication in Japanese, and when discussions become more complex, English allows for reliable understanding—an advantage rarely seen among workers from other Asian countries.
The Philippines is one of the world’s youngest nations, with a median age in the 24s and a population exceeding 100 million.
Many young people take on responsibilities early in life to support their families, resulting in a workforce that is highly motivated—both to work and to learn.
These young individuals possess enormous potential for growth, making them a highly valuable investment for the future.
The Philippines and Japan have different strengths—but that’s exactly why we can grow stronger together.
ERA is here to build a bridge of opportunity, where both sides respect, grow, and succeed—together.

日本と、フィリピンの潜在力をつなぐ
フィリピンは、教育で英語のみが使われる国です。
その点に大きな魅力を感じ、私は2014年に家族とともにフィリピン・セブ島へ移住しました。
セブ島は、日本から多くの若者が語学留学に訪れる英語学習のメッカとして知られています。
もともとリゾート地として有名で、世界中から観光客が集まるため、セブの人々はフィリピン国内でも特に高い英語力を身につけています。
こうした環境の中、日本人と自然に交流するフィリピン人も多く、日本語学校に通っていなくても、友人から日本語を覚えたり、日本の文化や価値観に親しんでいる若者が少なくありません。
簡単な日本語でのやり取りができ、難しい内容でも英語なら確実に通じるという点は、日本人にとって、他のアジア諸国の人材と比べても大きな魅力です。
フィリピンは、平均年齢が24歳台と世界でもトップクラスに若く、人口も1億人を超える稀有な国です。
多くの若者が、家族を支えるために若いうちから責任を持って働いています。だからこそ、就労意欲も、学ぶ意欲も高い人が多いのです。フィリピンの若者たちは、伸びしろが大きく、未来への投資価値も高い人材層として注目されています。
日本とフィリピンは、それぞれ異なる強みを持っています。
でもだからこそ、一緒に成長し、より強くなれるのです。
ERAは、互いに尊重し合い、共に成長し、成功を分かち合えるような、そんな「チャンスの橋」を築くために存在しています。
